Paige Buecker’s NIL deals, explained: UConn basketball star’s portfolio includes partnership with Gatorade, StockX

In November 2021, Bueckers signed a multi-year approval agreement with Gatorade and became the company’s first NCAA partner. As part of Gatorade’s announcement, Bueckers said she hoped to “drive an impact on society and on women’s games.” The company did not disclose the exact value of the deal.

“From her electrifying performance on the track to accelerating its transformation, Paige exemplifies everything it means to be a Gatorade athlete,” said Jeff Kearney, Gatorade’s global head of sports marketing. “Working with her is a statement to the next generation of our continued commitment to women in sports.”

Bueckers joined a loaded list of current Gatorade athletes that includes other basketball stars such as Elena Delle Donne, Candace Parker, Jayson Tatum and Zion Williamson.

In addition to the Gatorade deal, Bueckers has partnered with the mobile payment service Cash App and the online marketplace StockX. She too filed a trademark for “Paige Buckets”, which would allow her to use the nickname for “athletic clothing, namely shirts, pants, jackets, shoes, hats, caps and athletic uniforms.”

The StockX deal can be Buecker’s personal favorite not only because of her ability to be creative with her own products, but also because of the benefits she gets.

“I definitely spend too much money on clothes and shoes,” Bueckers told Bloomberg. “So to be able to get these things as part of my business [for free] is really amazing. “

“I have tried to bring justice, whether it is women and men in sports or white basketball players and black basketball players, I want the same light for me to be shown on them,” Bueckers told The Athletic. “So that’s what I’m going to do and that’s what I’m going to try to do with every single one of my deals. It’s just fighting for Black Lives Matters and fighting for minorities to get the same attention I do because I’m is white and plays basketball.

“So I think that only with my light that I get from others and from Gatorade, from StockX, from every contract I sign, I just want to be able to shine it on other people who do not get the same attention as me.”
